Another mad Easterly day in the estuary... I love this place!! Elsewhere the wind was about 20 knots, but in the estuary it was blowing a hoolie, with steady 30 knots of wind and some ridiculous gusts. Neil and another guy from Shrewsbury were about to go kite-surfing and Jon was about to go windsurfing, so I quickly rigged my 4.5m sail and got out on the water.

I was maxed out straight away, and the name of the game today was survival. Just hang on and hope for the best!! I was in control most of the time, but my gybing wasn't exactly smooth. The kiters were having a good time, but were obviously overpowered really as well, as they were just going back and forth, without going for any jumps or anything and just surviving in the conditions. There were a few occasions when they looked a little oout of control too.

Jon was having a good time with his 3.9m sail, and it was good to see him out on the water as he doesn't get out that often, depsite living in Borth. I just spent the time blasting back and forth, barely in the water, gybing at each end and doing lots of chop hops. Some were OK, some were good, and on sme, if I bore away too much in mid air I'd just get the rig ripped out of my hands on landing.

It was good fun to be sailing in mad conditions again though, and I actually enjoyed getting slammed now and then when things went wrong.
